Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
While I am not in-network with any insurance company, many patients have out-of-network coverage that will provide reimbursement for treatment with me. I can work with you to understand what your insurance benefits are in order to agree on a fee that works for you. I can then provide you with an invoice you can submit to your health insurance company for “out-of-network” benefits reimbursement (often covering 60-to-80 percent of the fee and somtimes covering 100 percent once your out of pocket maximum is met). Cost for sessions not covered by your health insurance plan will be your responsibility.
What is your fee?
The standard fee for individual psychotherapy sessions is $250. Ongoing fees for therapy and psychoanalysis depend on frequency and your financial circumstances. I am willing to work with you to make psychotherapy affordable and accessible to you given your resources.
Do you have a sliding scale?
It is important to me that psychotherapy and psychoanalysis is accessible. Reduced fee sessions can be made based on your financial circumstances. I will do my best to make therapy available to you based on your financial circumstances and obligations. I also provide referrals for low-fee treatment if necessary.
Will I need to pay for an initial consultation?
I do not charge for an initial consultation unless we decide to continue working together.
How often will sessions take place?
I see patients at a variety of frequencies from one to four or five times per week. I meet with patients on this schedule because, in my experience, I do not feel psychodynamic treatment is effective at less than once-per-week.
Appointments
Once the regular schedule is offered, the day and time is reserved for you, meaning no one else will take your place in my weekly schedule. For this reason, in case you are unable to attend your regular session, a cancellation fee will be charged. However, I will do my best to find you an alternative time if you are unable to attend your session due to professional or personal obligations.
How long will a treatment last?
This is a legitimate question to ask, though it is difficult for any therapist to give a definitive answer. Length of treatment is difficult to predict and can vary depending on the circumstances of each individual and with the frequency of the treatment. That said, increased frequency means the treatment moves at a faster, and many find, more useful and consistent pace.
Billing
I bill on a monthly basis and accept payments either through personal check or Zelle.
